Developing Background Knowledge (I do, We do)
Students will engage in a mini inquiry activity to draw upon and add to their prior knowledge on inventions and the process of inventing. We hope students will begin to identify a problem or need, think about steps taken to brainstorm, design, build, and test their design. They also will consider how best to share their inventions with others.
Together we will watch a TEDtalk given by Richard Turere, "My Invention That Made Peace With Lions". The teacher librarian or teacher will demonstrate the thinking and recording of information students will be expected to do for this activity. |

Investigating Inventors and Inventions (You do)
Students will choose an invention or inventor they would like to learn about. They will complete a gathering grid to organize the information they find and then choose a poster making tool to share their learning.
